Originally from Wotton-Under-Edge, Gloucestershire, I studied at the nearby Stroud College where I completed a Foundation Degree covering Photography and Illustration.
After moving to Brighton, encouraged by the artistic influences there, in Autumn 2016 I initially set up Bear Clause Designs as a vehicle for promoting my abstract work and associated Gifts and Accessories though, since then, my artwork has become the main focus of my activities.
My portfolio now includes Landscapes, Botanical detail and Architectural studies in a Photorealistic style. I also like exploring use of colour theory and create Abstracts, generally influenced by OpArt.
I am fascinated by the limitless interactions between colours and intrigued by the limitless variety of designs and effects achievable using only coloured triangles. With the exception of my abstract work, most of my digital artworks are inspired and reinterpreted from my own original photographs. Each piece consists of a ‘mosaic’ of digitally hand-drawn triangles, each painstakingly shaped and placed to realise depth and effect. I meticulously select the tones and hues of colours I need to achieve the effect of the image appearing to pop-out from the paper.
