Gillian lives on the north coast of Scotland, her paintings reflecting the changing moods of the sky and season, recreating the sensory experience of the surrounding natural world and ancient terrains. She explores the shifting nature of vision and the impact of the physical world on the viewer and painter. The presence of the human body emerges through the forms of the land and layering of oils and colour on a linen surface.
Gillian trained at Winchester School of Art and worked with archaeological subjects, teaching life painting and drawing before developing a focus on landscape. She exhibits widely throughout the UK.
