David Harper is a modernist artist as well as a BBC TV Art and Antiques presenter and writer. He’s been a regular face on BBC TV since 2005.
David lived and went to school in Africa, it was here he developed a love of colour, form and traditional African artwork, including the shapes and carvings. This along with a lifetime of studying western art and antiques, all inspire his unique artwork.
His first exhibition was in 2014 and since then Harper has exhibited and sold work alongside artists such as Damien Hirst, Ai Weiwei, Henry Moore and Sir Peter Blake.
His painting studio is Barnard Castle, Durham, with work held in art collections and museums around the world. He’s especially known for his classic car paintings and has recently been commissioned by The Haynes International Motoring Museum to paint several of their cars and The Herriot Museum to paint the famous Austin 7 from the BBC TV series ‘All Creatures Great And Small’.
