Helen Brough is a British painter, drawer, sculptor, and installation artist. Educated at Chelsea School of Art in London, achieving B.A.Honors First Class and a M.A in sculpture.
Her awards in England include the Prix de Rome prize at the British school in Rome, and the Prince Charles travel scholarship. The Soros foundation has funded her exhibitions in Romania and Hungary. In America she has received funding from the Pollock/Krasner Foundation and the Bemis Center for Contemporary Arts.
Recently in November 2015 a painting group show with Mayson Gallery New York, , USA. In 2016 she started exhibiting with The Other Art Fair, and has done 4 fairs with them to date. London at Victoria House, the Truman Brewery and at the Arnolfini in Bristol. In 2017 she has exhibited at The Other Art Fair at Victoria House and also in New York with Mayson Gallery in a group show. In 2017 Dahlia Cuore, was commissioned by British Land for Broadgate as part of the shaped by design season in Broadgate London. In 2018 one of 4 global finalist for the 1% Nebraska Art Sculpture Commission at the Buffett in Omaha NE. USA
Brough’s chosen subjects include urban, botanical, sea and landscapes. With a natural curiosity in the unconscious and how the inner is brought out through dreams and illusions, the imagery of her work, landscape or abstract, is concerned with her perception of reality. A poetic thread runs through the work reflecting the force of nature in the process of being.
