Matt Sparrow is a self-taught artist, who focuses on photorealism. Originally concentrating on portraiture, his most recent works have moved towards still life, with his inspiration coming from his love of music and British culture and the inextricable link between the two. He prefers to work in oil paint on board and describes his painting technique as ‘just working out which colour to put down next’.
Each painting tells a story, the subjects captured are related in some way to the content of the album. The items are contemporary with the album release, with Matt sourcing appropriate subjects from vintage, second hand shops and eBay.
Aside from painting, Matt works full-time as a firefighter and also juggles a part-time position as Creative Director of a successful baby products company, Rockit. His original oil paintings are available from £4000 upwards, and limited edition prints are available both framed and unframed. He welcomes enquiries about commissions and gallery representation.
