Cathcart is a contemporary figurative artist living and working in Livepool, UK.
Her work is sold internationally and has been exhibited in Liverpool, Budapest and New York. Cathcart’s work is concerned with anonymity and familiarity; using recycled images of faces, she’s interested in how forgotten about images can be re-purposed in her paintings. In particular, creating situations where the viewer can feel familiarity with collections of faces, that are often, entirely fictional. This familiarity is juxtaposed with a sense of ambiguity; where groups of faces don’t belong to one another in time or space but seem united within the picture plane.
