Since graduating ten years ago Paul has been developing his full time painting practice in the North of England, establishing a reputation as one of country’s outstanding still life artists. With appearances in art fairs around the world, Paul has also gained commercial success nationally with previous sell out solo shows and inclusion in many high-profile exhibitions, including last year’s Discerning Eye, New Light Art and The Great North Art Show.
With an emphasis on dramatic and technically accomplished still life compositions, Paul’s art focuses on the objects that surround us, both built and in nature that are often overlooked, yet which form part of our lives. Wether examining the surface pattern of a Serrano Lemon or the play of light on a glass bowl, Paul’s meticulously crafted oil paintings offer a ‘stage’ within a simple composition, that allow us to look more closely at the things we acquire and consume – while also delighting the viewer with the craft of the painting surface.
Paul’s appearance at Chester is the first time he has exhibited as a solo artist at an Arts Fair, and he is looking forward to presenting a range of new paintings, and getting a rare chance to chat to collectors about his work.
